Un server SIP funziona un po' come un server di posta elettronica. Mette in grado gli utenti di comunicare tra loro. Occorre essere iscritti ad un qualsiasi server SIP e il contatto con un qualunque utente di un qualunque server SIP, ovunque sia nel mondo.
